So just as\u00a0we were planning the Cotignac sojourn, Patrick and Karen announced that they would be boating in Burgundy whilst we were in France and they invited us to join them for a few days. \u00a0We \u00a0leaped at the opportunity, having had a wonderful time with them in Holland just two years previously. \u00a0After a 6 hour drive from Cotignac we arrived in Dole to join Patrick and Karen on Shangri-La for 3 days. \u00a0 Dole is quite a large city but the older part near the canal has a village feel to it. \u00a0This is the birthplace of Louis Pasteur who (amongst many other achievements)\u00a0created\u00a0the vaccines for rabies and anthrax and gave his name to the process for preventing bacterial contamination of milk \u00a0and wine (thank \u00a0goodness for that!)<\/p>\n

Life on the canal, especially with good friends and a great skipper, is gentle and peaceful.<\/p>\n

Tough life!!<\/p><\/div>\n

We sailed to St Jean-de-Losne and thence to Auxonnne. \u00a0Occasionally I’d get a chance to “drive” which I really enjoy.<\/p>\n

Going through the locks is always fun \u00a0… even if it is a tight squeeze sometimes<\/p>\n
