I caught the ferry from Koh Phi Phi Don to Phuket<\/p>\n

The most important member of this journey well secured<\/p><\/div>\n

Phuket is an island as well as a city.\u00a0 The island is lovely, beautiful beaches, fairly mountainous with green jungle.\u00a0\u00a0There is an impressive statue\u00a0 of a\u00a0 large golden dragon emerging from the sea in the centre of the Old Town,\u00a0Hai Leng Ong, as it is known, protects the island.<\/p>\n

The Old Town where I stayed has been quite well preserved.\u00a0 The buildings are constructed in the Sino-Portuguese style, many of which, especially the mansions, were built by Hokkein Chinese who came to mine tin on the island. At one time, there were 2 navigable rivers leading right to the centre of the Old Town making it a very useful port for local and international trade.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
