It took me 5 long, hard, hot days to cycle from Phuket to Chumpon.\u00a0 The route led me all along the West coast and then near the Myanmar border to Kraburi then directly East to Chumpon (about 560kms in total).\u00a0 By then I clearly needed a break so Bobby (the bike has finally named itself) and I hopped on the ferry to Koh Tao to do a couple of fun dives (me not Bobby!).<\/p>\n

My friends Trevor and Leigh highly recommended Assava Dive resort as a place to stay and to dive.\u00a0 Trevor had just completed his Dive Master programme with them a couple of weeks before (Congratulations Trevor!)<\/p>\n

I went to book a fun dive, had a chat to Kelly, an instructor, and found myself enthusiastically signing up for the Advanced Open Water Course.\u00a0 I was a little anxious and somewhat nervous considering my inexperience and capability but Kelly is a fine instructor and, with her care, patience and wisdom, she has really contributed to my learning and my dive skills. (Thank you Kelly!)<\/p>\n

Five dives and wonderful, exciting experiences:\u00a0 underwater navigation, peak performance buoyancy, a deep dive, a wreck dive and a night dive.\u00a0 I’m pleased to say that I have successfully completed the course.\u00a0 I’ll update this post again once I have sat with Kelly to list all the fishes we saw over the 2 days.<\/p>\n
